This website is no longer updated and you can find the new Salesian College Farnborough Alumni site, here https://www.salesiancollege.com/community/alumni
Welcome to the website for the Old Salesians Association Farnborough (OSAF), an Association for all ex pupils and staff of Salesian College Farnborough, whether you are leaving in 2020 or were one of the post-war generation.
OSAF is an organisation that has existed for a long time to provide a connection between the school you attended, your friends from that time and today's modern Salesian College Farnborough.
Sport, nostalgia, friendship, charity, career support and networking lie at the heart of this Alumni and it belongs to you.We are very keen to ensure it stays relevant to all, especially those leaving more recently and actively seek volunteers to help us grow and develop in today's ever more-connected but at the same time fragmented world.
If you would like to help please contact us via this site. If you are not registered to receive our newsletters please use the register button on this site to do so.

Benjamin Tucker
It is with great sadness that we hear of the untimely death of this former student at Farnborough at the age of just 27.
This tragic news was passed onto us by the school and was reported locally as below.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, including brother Mark who also attended the school.

Fr Brendan McGuiness SDB
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Fr McGuiness at the age of 94.
He will be fondly remembered by so many, having first arrived at Farnborough in 1968. From those whose musical interest he nurtured to those who he rightly recognised did not have a musical note in their body, to those more recently who saw him as the school chaplain.
Many of us will recall holding a reunion just a few years back in the wonderful music room that bears his name
His funeral will be on the 12th April and details are in the link below.
Please follow the link below for information on the funeral of Fr Brendan McGuinness SDB. the link is as follows:

May he rest in peace.

We have also learned recently of the passing of Michael Anthony Rogers (23.08.1934 - 10.02.2022)

Peter Spelman 1975-1982
John Milner 1949-1955
It is with great sadness that we heard of John's recent death.
John was a stalwart of the OSAF and responsible with others for helping to maintain the association over many years as well as always being supportive at times of change. Those of you who have seen the videos linked to from this website have done so courtesy of John who chronicled and edited many occasions on film.
John was at the college as part of the post war generation (1949-1955).
Both his children (John and Tom) also attended the college and we wish them and the family well at this time.
May he rest in peace.

Year 13s Careers Events & Mentoring
The school is currently closed due to the prevailing COVID 19 health crisis.Obviously this is challenging for all concerned, especially those planning the next stage of their education or careers.
Career development and advice about the next part of a student's life is a very big part of college life nowadays and with this in mind we are looking for expressions of interest in two activities planned for the Autumn of 2020.
There will be both an "interviewing"evening and the initiation of a careers mentoring programme, both for year 13s, and the school is seeking professionals from all sectors of the economy who may be able to contribute to one or both activities. This really is a vital activity where the Farnborough Alumni can help the next generation take their first steps into the world outside of rull-time education. You can volunterr your interest via the email on this website or directly with Isabel Cardona who is the Head of Careers at the school, This email address is being protected from spambots. Annual AGM
Unfortunately it has proved necessary to postome the forthcoming 2020 AGM due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The annual reunion, Mass and AGM will not take place on 26th April 2020. The event has been postponed to later in the year on a date which is still to be determined.
We hope that all Old Salesians and their families everywhere remain safe and well during this unprecedented time.

Thank you to the Old Salesians who recently contributed to the Sean Devereux Children's Fund "Road to Monrovia". This fundraising activity has so far raised in excess of £7500 thanks to the efforts of all who cycled (walked and rowed) a total of 4500 miles, the distance between Sean's home and the schools the charity supports in Liberia.
Full details can be found at www.seandevereux.org.uk, and you can still donate via that site.

We would like to draw your attention to a fascinating series of videos compiled by John Milner. John was at the school in the 1950s and has chronicled many events since that time until very recently.
These memories can now be viewed at this youtube link,https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRH7yfLHPy4JEMomIMxwrIw and John will be adding further films as time permits.
We are very grateful for John's time in both providing the original footage and converting them for the digital age.
Please do submit any photos or films you have so that we can provide them for the benefit of Alumni, old and new.
